Nostalgia for whorehouses PDF Print E-mail

ImageNowadays it’s a taboo to speak about a regulation concerning prostitution, much more than discussing of drugs or of euthanasia legality. Both feminists and bigots, hypocrites and modernists burst out with equal vehemence, without considering that since implacable senator Merlin disposed the whorehouses closing, the Italian sociological situation has changed radically.

At that time most prostitutes came from provinces or were seduced and deserted women, in a bigot and conformist Italy which today has disappeared. At present we are obliged to face a vile return of slavery managed by the foreign mafia, characterized by an incredible ferocity which was unimaginable fifty years ago. Legions of very young women and preteens coming from eastern Europe and Africa are led to us by unscrupulous flesh merchants, with the illusion of an honest job, and then they are obliged to prostitute themselves in the streets, controlled by ferocious jailers. Moreover, in a "par condicio" epoch, we must include male and homosexual prostitution.

No medical and fiscal control is present, while our various well-deserving governments are chasing tax dodgers everywhere, except among panders and pimps. Can we go on pretending that such a dirty exploitation doesn’t involve us? Can we look away from sights which are unworthy of a civilized country? Can we allow that this situation will develop and consolidate, strengthening and supporting foreign crime? Can we ignore the measures that other more civilized European countries have already taken, providing enormous benefit for public health and inland revenue?

If we permit that the current situation degenerates in a wild way, without any rules and limits, we will not help the honest citizens who must make a decision to face the problem in defense of moral and physical health and, above, all of civilization. Lately, together with the uncontrolled spreading of prostitution, I wondered with nostalgia at the reappearance of "masseuses’ ads" which had strangely disappeared long since, in spite we live in a period of unbridled mercantilism.

I went back to the years in which I read these ads with a mischievous concrete interest, while at present reading them is just an intellectual pleasure. Thus I discovered that the offer, abreast with the time, has become a more specialized one. Thinking of it better, however, I remembered that on the walls of ancient Pompeian brothels there were already explicative frescoes advertising the professional services in which the whorehouse’s owner was particularly inclined.

Moreover we can notice the effects of globalization: there are passionate Brazilian and Cuban girls, lascivious Slavic and even meticulous and patient Chinese women. How many job opportunities lost for our prostitutes! The chances satisfy all tastes whenever and wherever you are.

You visited a hospitalized relative and... did you get sad? There is an immediate remedy to lift you up again...
