The Liberal Party is one of the deep rooted and oldest parties in Egypt. It was established during the late President Sadat's reign. Its head was the departed Mostafa Kamel Mourad, leader of the Egyptian opposition. After his death, Talaat Sadat was elected to his Party's Presidency and he tried hard to let the party regain its spirit by reacting to Egypt's street problems.
The party members insist that the rise of Sadat's candidacy has to be from the front of late great President Sadat's tomb. This brought about the Egyptian renaissance after its historical victory and peace.
"While we are in front of the tomb of the Departed, we must remember his great love for his homeland and his belief in the trinity of peace, welfare and development." said Sadat. He also added that we will start from the great spirit of October to regain our country's glory. And from the peace that restored the Egyptian land and the region's stability. This President, admired by the entire world because of his bravery and courage, laid the groundwork for peace. The candidate mentioned that one of our priorities will be the re-building of bygone freedom and the regaining of Egyptian glory which has disappeared in our international relations. Our alignment will be to the people and to prevent all suffering and every deal with the decadents who stole the nation's dreams, money, freedom and peace.
Sadat said: "Sleep in peace great departed.. We are in need of you.. But, we, the Egyptian people, your children, know well your value." and added, "we will start from where the Great Sadat left off. No emergency laws, no political detainees, no theft, plunder or corruption. We will guarantee a respectable and honorable life for every one. No inferiority but pride and right peace. No inherited reigns. No restrictions on the creation of parties. No benefits against the poor people's interests. No limits to opinions or ideologies.
Lastly, Sadat confirmed all the people's interests, especially the poor levels who suffered from the current regime that killed their aims for 24 years. He said: "I just need 24 months to reform what was damaged during a regime of 24 years.
